80 people attended this conference held at The Park, Stadium Way in Exeter on 16 November 2010.
There were some excellent presentations and workshops. Maureen Breeze talked about how she and her local community decided to take over their Bathford Village Store when it was threatened with closure. Bill Knight from One Community, Keveral Cornwall gave an insight into setting up a housing co-op, Neil Farrington showed how Community Power Cornwall evolved through community-led demand for renewable energy, and Dave Boyle from Supporters Direct joined forces with Tony Badcock from Exeter City Supporters' Trust to explain how you can own your own football club!
In the afternoon there were lively presentations from Jim Brown of Baker Brown Associates on Community Investment and, from Lynn Wetenhall of Lyn Wetenhall Associates, an interactive workshop on 'You and Local Government - making the links and making it happen'.
With many thanks to our member co-operatives (notably The Co-operative Enterprise hub, The Midcounties Co-operative, The Co-operative Membership South & West, and The Southern Co-operative), whose generosity enabled this event to be free.
